Reflecting on a Year of Giving Back: Parke Lane People’s Commitment to Community and Core Values

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to take a moment to share and celebrate the donations and sponsorships we’ve made so far. Why now, in November? With our founder, Andy Parke, midway through his Movember fundraising efforts, and December just around the corner, it’s easy for meaningful messages to get lost in the holiday rush. By reflecting on our year of giving back in November, we’re able to capture the importance of these initiatives—including Andy’s personal fundraising journey—and give them the recognition they deserve before the festivities begin.

At Parke Lane People, our core values—Trust, Transparency, and Quality—drive everything we do. Beyond recruitment, we see our role as active members of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire communities, contributing to local causes that make a positive impact. From mental health support to sports, we’re proud to be involved in meaningful ways that reflect our commitment to quality and long-term relationships. Here’s a look at some of our community contributions this year:

Movember Fundraising with Personal PurposeThis November, Andy Parke is also 19 days into his Movember fundraising journey. Having had two close family members diagnosed with cancer in the same month, the cause is personal. Sadly, Andy lost his Grandad to the disease, and his memory is a driving inspiration behind Andy’s dedication to raising awareness and funds. Andy’s Grandad was a well-loved figure in Oxford, having run Ben’s Cookies in the Covered Market for over 30 years—a legacy that lives on in the shop, where a picture of him still hangs today. Andy’s Grandad left Andy with just enough money to start PLP back in 2018. We’re proud of Andy’s commitment and hope his efforts encourage others to support Movember’s crucial work in men’s health.

Supporting Mental Health Initiatives with Oxfordshire Mind

Our involvement with Oxfordshire Mind has been a source of pride and inspiration for our team. This year, through two Opendoorz North Oxford fundraisers, we’ve sponsored event canapés, raised funds, and joined in virtual horse racing, breaking our initial £1,000 goal and reaching £3,000. Each donation makes a direct impact: £1,000 funds six one-to-one sessions for ten young people, providing essential mental health support.

Oxfordshire Mind Sponsorship

In another memorable event, we supported brave firewalkers who crossed hot coals to raise additional funds. This daring show of commitment brought our community together for an incredible cause, and we’re grateful to support Oxfordshire Mind’s crucial work. Congratulations and a big a shout out to Anthony Tattersall from Darcica Logistics, Oya Emir-Wilson from Pebble Marketing and Paddy Daly from Cherry Tree Contractors, who braved the coals.

Opendoorz Firewalk

Our support extends beyond these events, thanks in part to our founder, Andy Parke, who serves as an Ambassador for Opendoorz North Oxford. In his ambassadorial role, Andy fosters community spirit, builds relationships, and connects like-minded businesses for collaborative growth. His involvement with Opendoorz aligns with our commitment to long-term relationships and community support.

Backing Brill Cricket Club’s Successful Season

We couldn’t be prouder of Brill Cricket Club, led by our own Andy Parke, for finishing the season in 2nd place! Supporting this team is personal to us, and our sponsorship goes beyond just the game. It’s about nurturing the spirit and passion that define our local community. Here’s to even more success for Brill CC in the future!

Easter Cheer at Gagle Brook Primary School

Easter at Gagle Brook Primary School was a joyful occasion where we contributed eggs to the school’s Easter Egg Hunt, which raised over £1,500 for an outdoor classroom. Supporting young minds in a fun, engaging way is essential to us, and we’re glad to have played a small part in this wonderful day.

Art on the Hill: Celebrating Local Artists

Art on the Hill was an unforgettable celebration of creativity, and we were thrilled to sponsor this vibrant event. We left with two beautiful pieces by artist Chenxi Ni, now proudly displayed in our office, as reminders of the talent and passion that surround us. Engaging with our community in such inspiring ways is exactly why we support local events, and we’re already counting down to next year’s Art on the Hill.

Each of these contributions reflects the values at the heart of Parke Lane People. We’re grateful for the chance to give back to our community, and we look forward to carrying this spirit of giving with us in the new year.

Thank you to everyone who has joined us in making a difference this year. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
