Our client is a prestigious and well-established organisation located on the outskirts of Banbury. They have a new permanent requirement for a Finance Manager to lead their accounting function.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for the control and reporting of business performance, processes and finances, ensuring statutory and legal obligations are met including the Company Secretary responsibilities. The Finance Manager has a specific remits to ensure that the accounts are accurate and meet all audit conditions, as well as to ensure that the data is presented in ways to assist the shaping of the financial strategy and day-to-day management.
Some of the specific duties will include:
- The creation of business plans and budgets in line with the strategic plans of the organisation.
- Leading the management, control and reporting of business performance, processes and finance.
- Advising on investments in consultation with brokers and investment managers.
- Maintaining and developing the accounting function by preparing management accounts, cash flow projections and financial plans, including departmental budgets
- Coordinating the annual budget and periodic forecasts, including financial modelling.
- Ensuring compliance with all tax and charity rules.
- Ensuring that the accounting systems are configured to enable timely reporting and analysis.
- Ensuring that all financial transactions relating to the School, its trading companies and any related trusts and charities, are promptly and accurately recorded.
- Ensuring that all statutory accounts, other statutory and charity returns, and other financial management accounts are prepared in accordance with agreed time frames.
- Monitoring and reporting expenditure against budgets on a monthly basis.
- Liaising with and producing year-end audit file for the auditors.
- Developing and monitoring internal controls in respect of all financial functions undertaken by the Group, including preparing and maintaining written financial procedures and policies.
- Making sure that all income due is collected, taking appropriate action with outstanding debts as necessary, and providing reports as required.
- Ensuring that there is an effective Anti-Money Laundering procedure in place.
- Arranging capital project finance, as required.
- Ensuring that the payroll, associated records and statutory returns operate accurately, securely and in accordance with set time scales.
- Ensuring that all forms, records and returns relating to the pension schemes operated by the Group are completed accurately.
- Maintaining and developing the fixed asset register and associated accounting for depreciation and disposals.
- Effective management and motivation of the accounting team.
Candidates applying for the position should ideally be qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 5 years accounting experience at a supervisory level. You must be commercially minded, with a strong grasp of management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, as well as have a mindset for process improvement. Key attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
